Jason has been working in the information security field since the early 90s. That was when he began his work in web application security through code reviews and least privilege execution of CGI programs. He is currently the security engineering lead at a major bank driving application security strategy and initiatives for its online banking platform and integrating security into the software development lifecycle. He also participates in the BITS financial services security forum. Previously, he worked many years for AT&T Wireless in operations, eCommerce, and application security as well as Enterprise Security Architecture. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and in 2001 he obtained a Masters in Computer Science focused on Information Security at James Madison University, designated as a Center of Excellence by the NSA.
He served on the ISSA Puget Sound chapter board for 3 years where he collaborated on the inaugural ISSA Northwest Regional Security Conference. This is now his 4th consecutive year on the conference planning committee.
He is an active member of the OWASP Seattle chapter and also one of the leads on the OWASP .Net project and author of the .Net port of CSRFGuard.
In his non-security life, he is a second year volunteer mentor for Community For Youth, loves playing volleyball, tackles home remodeling projects, is interested in politics and scientific skepticism, and is an aspiring golfer.
