Presentation Abstract

This session will help educate security managers and business executives on the changing role of Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and prepare them to meet highly publicized governance for data privacy, as well as lesser known industry-specific or regional requirements. We will discuss how regional and national amendments such as California’s AB229 and new FTC guidelines and industry-specific requirements from governing bodies such as the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) are demanding more from businesses, and how some of these guidelines are expected to change this year.

To meet these changes, we will delve into the challenges of creating and enforcing security policies to protect confidential third-party structured data like credit card and account numbers, as well as unstructured data such as Intellectual Property or HR files. The session will be reinforced with real world examples of how some SMBs and financial services companies are deploying data loss prevention and policy-based encryption technologies to meet current and future DLP requirements.
